History & Milestones
In June, digi-escape CANADA became an internet marketing company offering services
to companies interested in web site translation and promotion services in both
Japanese, and English. Two separate business web sites were created with essentially
the same visual design, but in the languages of English and Japanese. Services
were localized in each respective country's business practices.
Expansion of translation and marketing services included targeting the EU and
these European languages: Italian, German, French and Spanish. Recruitment began
of freelance translators and other personnel. However, we found that the management
of these new services was difficult and the amount of work to maintain the service
was not equal to the amount of revenue generated. We also found dealing
with European country-language markets was not compatible with our primary Asian
market focus. Subsequently, we dropped the European language services
and decided to expand into the Asian markets of China PR and South
Korea.
We began focusing our attention on Japan in 2003, after less than stellar results
in pursing the markets of China and South Korea. One of the industry
sectors in Japan we began to focus on was tourism. The government of Japan decided
to make inbound tourism a priority. We then began developing business relationships
and strategic alliances with Japanese companies offering services related to
tourism. For example, services included short and long-term accommodations (Hotels
and Ryokans), cell phone rentals, attractions and tour services.
A strategic alliance was developed with a group of Hospitality industry professions,
who formed a new company in the accommodation industry in Japan. These professionals
saw the need for accommodation operators in Japan to fill empty rooms by marketing
using the Internet and creating multilingual web sites to attract new guests
outside Japan. We offered
services to them in the three languages groups corresponding to the top three
visitor groups (language-country) to Japan: Korean (South Korea), Chinese (Taiwan,
Hong Kong and China) and English (USA, Australia, UK and Canada).
In 2005 digi-escape saw new opportunities by observing a sufficient rise
in demand for SME from companies in Japan wanting to compete internationally,
but had limited capital, a lack of international business and English language
skills. Many of these companies have developed unique technologies and services,
some technologies are patented and would be attractive to markets outside of
Japan. What they required was the opportunity to work with a bilingual international
marketing agency that could act as a cultural and international business liaison.
The breadth of services offered by digi-escape CANADA were limited and do not
include the basics of International Trade Management, which these Japanese companies
required.
Strategic partnerships are being finalized with individuals/
companies in Japan, China and Vietnam.
Expansion of services to include Export Management and
Consulting stressing the importance of utilizing the
Web to overcome export barriers.
Strategic partnerships finalized in Vietnam.
digi-escape GROUP is the new business identity.
